Professor, Information Technology, 1995 – 2018

Developed curriculum and taught information technology. Subjects include C programming, web development, eCommerce, database administration, network administration, project management, and information security. Skills taught include HTML, CSS, PHP, C, SQL, MySQL, Linux, Windows Desktop & Server, and Novell Netware.

My major accomplishments in this role include:

  • Designed a new Cybersecurity track leveraging online cloud-based technology to provide students 24×7 remote access to hands-on labs. Built and deployed NDG’s NetLab system and VMWare vSphere cloud server.
  • Serve as Co-Leader for the National Association of Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Academic Alliance representing over 1,700 members from more than 550 colleges and universities.
  • Serve on the Academic Advisory Committee for Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, representing over 25,000 computing professionals and students.
  • Coordinated the “Authentic Inclusion of Community Colleges in National Efforts to Broaden Participation in Computing” workshop, which was held at Google headquarters in Mountain View, CA in January 2018.

1984 – 2012

Provided systems analysis and development services for a variety of local, national, and international customers. Designed and customized e-Commerce solutions, single and multi-site WordPress, Drupal, ZenCart, database, and accounting systems. Developed and implemented social networking and search engine optimization plans.

Wild Iris Market, Inc.

Entrepreneur / Developer, 2009 – 2011

Served as primary designer & developer of a multi-vendor eCommerce solution including development in HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. The site provided a one-stop shopping experience where customers could purchase from a combined inventory and individual vendors would fulfill orders and receive payment for their sales.

Accounting Firms Associated, Inc.

Consultant (Systems Analyst), 1994 – 1995

Coordinated the successful conversion of an Apple Talk network to an Ethernet network consisting of both Mac and PC workstations with Novell NetWare and Microsoft SQL servers. Developed relational database solutions using Microsoft SQL server using rapid development and C programming. Designed data analysis reports using Microsoft Access, Excel, and Crystal Reports. Designed and implemented an organization wide document management system. Trained users in the use of applications, document management and the Novell network.

American Red Cross, Northeast Florida Chapter

Systems Analyst / Manager Information Systems, 1986 – 1992

Responsible for the management of network and enterprise data systems for a 50-person office, including Novell Netware, customer service delivery system, accounting, and payroll systems. Managed telecommunications for four offices and remote access for disaster services deployment. Designed relational database systems using dBase III, C programming, Crystal Reports, and Lotus 123. Co-developed a multi-user service delivery system, Chapter Environment Resource System (CHERS), that was adopted as a national standard by the American Red Cross.
